The Northwest Yacht Brokers Association (NYBA) is a vibrant non-profit organization, supporting and advancing recreational marine industries in the Pacific Northwest. NYBA is the producer of the twice-yearly Boats Afloat Show, held each April and September at South Lake Union in Seattle. The Boats Afloat Show series is the jewel of the West Coast in-water boat shows.

Operations Director / Boat Show Producer

Join the Northwest Yacht Broker’s Association (NYBA) in their beautiful new South Lake Union office at Lake Union Piers (formerly Chandler’s Cove) as Operations Director/Boat Show Producer. NYBA is a nonprofit marine trade group consisting of hundreds of marine brokers, boat and yacht dealers and industry related professionals. Our members are committed to ensuring fair and honest business practices when buying and selling a boat or yacht.

Our Operations Director/Boat Show Producer has the following responsibilities:

  • Produce and organize two large floating boat shows each year in April and September. This includes (but not limited to): working with a public relations team and creative agency, contracting with a local tugboat company to position temporary docks, arranging for vendors to provide and set up temporary tenting, fencing and electricity, and organizing all aspects of the boat shows including exhibitor registration, dock/display organization and boat placement.  You will oversee Boat Show Production, meeting with our Boat Show Committee and supervising two part-time Boat Show Team Members, as well as obtaining national and local sponsors for our Boats Afloat Shows. 

  • Day to day management of the Association reporting to the Board of Directors to oversee, manage, and execute all aspects of the Association. Prepare for and attend monthly Board of Directors meetings including preparing agenda and monthly reports.

  • Assist the Association’s part-time bookkeeper and independent CPA with financial management of the association, as directed by the Executive Committee.

  • Manage contracts with external professionals including legal, accounting, and consulting staff as required.

  • Initiate, coordinate, and delegate special projects and activities of the Association with oversight responsibilities.

  • Represent NYBA at meetings with other associations.

  • Serve as the governmental point of contact for NYBA on permitting, especially as it relates to Boat Show Production.

  • Other duties as assigned, including writing monthly newsletter “Broker’s Bytes.”

This is a full-time position. Starting compensation up to $85,000 per year, plus bonuses on Boat Show sponsorships, commensurate with industry standards and the candidate’s prior experience. Hours are Monday-Friday 9-5 with the possibility of part time remote work as agreed.

Required Experience: 
* Three years of event planning experience is preferred
* Recreational marine industry experience is a plus

* Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook and Zoom are essential
* Willingness to learn other association-related programs, including but not limited to Wild Apricot and Quick Books
* Experience working with a creative agency is a plus
